Pet Photography Tips
The better the pet reference photograph the better the portrait painting:
Shoot from pet’s eye level by sitting or lying on the floor. Or, bring your pet up on a chair, try NOT to take the photo from . above your pet as such photos are often disappointing.
Sometimes sitting or lying just a bit off to the side for a 3/4 view is even more interesting than straight in front of your pets face.
Use natural lighting either outside or indoors by the light of a nearby window & avoid flash. Try also to avoid being in direct sunlight. Your back should be to the light with the light on your pets face.
Get close to your pet and focus on their eyes. If you are using your phone to take the photo, just touch on the screen right on your pets eyes to force the camera to focus on that spot. Then take the shot.
Have someone attract your pet’s attention behind you while you shoot or hold a treat in your hand close to the camera. Try making a high pitched tone or whistle to get them in an alert pose.
Take as many shots as you can. You can always delete them. We are so lucky in the age of digital photography.
Have fun & good luck. If you are relaxed your pet will be as well.
